Papers are encouraged on all aspects of the study of accounting regulation and standardization, including developments in theory, empirical studies and policy-oriented analyses. Papers that address issues of compliance, audit oversight and enforcement will be welcomed, together with other relevant topics such as accounting in regulated industries, the effects of regulation and deregulation on financial disclosure behaviour, the implications for corporate governance, and the consequences of accounting regulation for markets and institutions.
Papers are also sought on the structures and processes of law making, and standard setting and corporate governance in different social and political settings, either national or international, and on the more widespreaded adoption of IFRS from 2005.
The programme of the 4th International Workshop on Accounting & Regulation will include a special Abacus Forum session with invited speakers Professor Joshua Ronen of the Stern Business School, New York University, and Professor Geoffrey Whittington of the University of Cambridge and the UK’s Accounting Standards Board, and until recently a member of the International Accounting Standards Board.
Workshop papers regarding the implications of accounting regulation for corporate governance, and the consequences for markets and institutions, may be considered for publication in a special issue of the Journal of Management and Governance following the Workshop.
Those who are interested in presenting a paper at the workshop should submit an abstract but priority will be given to completed papers (max. 500 KB)
