After the fifteen previous Workshops (in
Brussels 1987, Vienna 1988, Cologne 1989, Durham 1990, Växjö 1991,
Barcelona 1992, Budapest 1993, Tampere 1994, Piacenza 1995, Brussels 1996,
Mannheim 1997, Lyon 1998, London 1999, Prague 2000 and Turku 2001) the
RENT conference will take place in Barcelona, Spain hosted by the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona.
Entrepreneurship has already been studied for quite some time. The field
has prospered and grown considerably during the past few years in all
European countries. Remarkable development has taken place in the research
frameworks and methodologies respectively. The fundamental scientific
discussion continues with entrepreneurship theory and discipline.
Simultaneously we have witnessed entrepreneurship research enter into new
emerging fields with specific features.
Following the tradition, there
will be an Award of EUR 1,000 for the best paper presented at the Conference.
A special evaluation committee will assess all the papers submitted.
Papers received after the deadlines
mentioned above will not be considered for the
Best Paper Award.

| DOCTORAL SEMINAR ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SMALL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT |

The doctoral seminar has been a
successful tradition at RENT and we will continue it in Barcelonq. To
encourage the emergence of new ideas, communication and dialogue between
students of different countries, in the field of Entrepreneurship and
Small Business research, we would like to welcome doctoral students to
attend the doctoral seminar. Students in early stages of their research
are encouraged to participate. All day long, sessions will be organized
with the proposals from the doctoral students, and reflection workshops on
methodological issues. Each session will be monitored by a professor.
Doctoral candidates interested in attending and presenting their research
proposals (not results of finished research) should send a one page
abstract by July 12th, 2002 to Professor José M. VECIANA - Universitat

Train connections from Barcelona city centre to
the Hotel Conference (Campus Hotel) :
From Plaça Catalunya to the UAB campus there are frequent trains
(Ferrocarrils Catalans de la Generalitat -FFCC-) every 10-15 min. that
leave you near the Campus Hotel (Bellaterra Station). Travelling time is
about 30 min.
ACCOMMODATION :
Although we indicate the following 3 hotels with
which we have agreed special rates for the Conference, we strongly
recommend you to make your reservation at the first one SERHS HOTEL CAMPUS *** (this is the new name of the hotel !!) where the Conference will take place. This
hotel is located in the UAB Campus.
The other two hotels are located in the very centre of Barcelona.
You are requested to contact the hotel directly to make your reservation
indicating "RENT XVI". These special rates can only be held for a
limited time and the number of rooms is limited too. The deadlines for
these reservations to benefit the special rates is September 28th, 2002
