CALL FOR PAPERS

A number of fora already exist for presenting and discussing qualitative or interdisciplinary perspectives on accounting, such as APIRA, IPA, CPA, MASOP, ASOP, FRASOP. What is missing from these fora is a specific focus on research suitable for North American journals. Building on the previous EIASM forum organised by Chris Chapman and Yves Gendron, we seek to retain this focus because North American accounting journals have begun to show greater interest in qualitative work. We believe this presents genuine opportunities for finding new audiences, refining our existing methodologies, and developing novel approaches to qualitative research in accounting. These would include, for instance, positive and critical realist ontologies, as well as mixed methods research.

This is an open invitation to anyone who wishes to present their qualitative accounting work. We are non-discriminatory and welcome work from across all traditions, including (but not limited to): interdisciplinary, positivist, critical, ethnographic, interpretive, and so forth.

The forum will be online in order to better capture and encourage cross-fertilisation of ideas between those in different geographies whose work is often grounded in different traditions. We will run the forum four times per year, in September, December, February, and April. We held the first session on September 28th, the second session on December 7th, the third session will be held on February 29th and there will be a fourth and final session on April 25th.
