CALL FOR PAPERS

The goal of the workshop is to bring together international scholars working on current issues in taxation. The attendance and moderating function of the keynote speakers offers an excellent possibility to receive meaningful feedback for submitted work. 

Relevant topics include, but are not limited to, the following:  
•    Accounting for income taxes. 
•    Tax-related capital market research. 
•    Tax planning, tax avoidance, and earnings management. 
•    Tax uncertainty, tax complexity, and tax risk. 
•    Taxation of multinational corporations. 
•    Tax Planning and non-tax costs. Implicit taxes. 
•    Taxpayer behavior, tax compliance, and tax consulting. 
•    The current and evolving duties of tax administrators and policymakers. 
•    Proposals for tax reforms, tax policy, and recent legislative or regulatory changes. 
•    Taxes in a changing economic, regulatory, and fiscal environment. 
•    Tax harmonization.                                                         

Discussion: Each accepted paper will be discussed by another workshop participant, giving participants the unique opportunity to receive thorough and individual feedback on their research project. Each participant is expected to serve as discussant to someone else’s paper.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Full papers as well as proposals can be submitted.

The submitted papers/proposals should consist of a cover page and the body of the proposal. Please note that the papers/proposals have to be submitted online as ONE document, created in one of the following compatible formats: Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf) or Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx).
The cover page should be a separate sheet including the following information:
–    Title 
–    Each Author’s name, his/her affiliation, address, telephone, fax, e-mail

The body of the paper/proposal should include: 
–    Topic of research and research question
–    Research method and design 
–    Underlying theory 
–    Contribution to prior research
–    (Expected) results 

DEADLINES

Proposal or Paper Submission: April 1, 2016
Author Notification: April 15, 2016
Scholarship application: April 1, 2016
Registration of authors: May 15, 2016
Final papers: June 13, 2016

A Ph.D. Seminar on Empirical Research in Taxation will be taught by the keynote speakers on July 6th to 7th, 2016 in Bonn. All workshop participants are invited to this seminar (no registration fee for workshop participants). For details please contact Dr. Adrian Kubata at: adrian.kubata@wiwi.uni-muenster.de. Participants of the doctoral seminar have to present one of the papers from the reading list. Papers will be assigned by the Institute of Accounting and Taxation.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The Münster Institute of Accounting and Taxation offers five scholarships for young research fellows of 300 € each. To apply for a scholarship please send your proposal and a PhD confirmation letter to Dr. Adrian Kubata at adrian.kubata@wiwi.uni-muenster.de by April 1, 2016. Scholarships will be assigned by lot. Applicable are only participants who present a paper at the workshop.

Bonn, the former capital of West Germany, is situated at the river Rhine. The University Club is in walking distance to the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University, the central market square and the Beethoven Haus, the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven.
