CALL FOR PAPERS

The conference policy implies that an author can submit and present only one paper as a first author. However this author can be a non-presenting co-author of other submitted papers.

As in previous conferences, we invite papers using a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches on any topic related to the broad theme of performance measurement and management control. We also encourage submissions from a variety of people with the objective of having a conference where different points of view meet and create an environment for learning, innovation, and new projects. Therefore, we encourage submissions from researchers and practitioners at all levels from PhD students to leading scholars and managers that provide guidance and experience. We also encourage submissions from all regions in the world because there are interesting developments in all of them.

The topic of this conference is enhancing the relevance of performance measurement and management control research. This is a broad topic by design with the intent of encouraging research and related discussions on important issues relevant to academic research, to practice, and to society. For example, papers could explore the following:

  • Performance measurement and management control as it applies in various industries
  • The use of different types of research methods and how they can be used more effectively
  • Management control practices that can help mitigate the prevalence of corporate scandals
  • The integration of ethics and management control
  • The use of performance measures to capture information on such topics as sustainability and environmental reporting
  • Performance measurement and management control for the public sector
  • Effective management control of knowledge creation
  • Management control, internal control and corporate governance
  • Risk management and management control
  • Business intelligence and data analytics

We will once again accept two types of submissions. In order to provide support to scholars who have little experience writing for and publishing in international journals, we ask that you self-select into one of two types of presentations.

The first type (Type 1) is intended for scholars who are (relatively) new at publishing in international English-language journals. Papers selected for these sessions will have a shorter presentation time to allow for more feedback. These parallel sessions will have a discussant with experience in publishing. Our purpose is to help the community of emerging international scholars better prepare papers for international journals.

The second type (Type 2) is intended for those with more experience in publishing in international journals. Consistent with past conferences, authors will have more time to present their paper with the purpose of stimulating audience participation.

For this conference we will also be soliciting volunteers to serve as session chairpersons and discussants for the Type 1 papers. You do not need to submit a paper to volunteer! (check this in the registration form)

The conference policy implies that an author can submit and present only one paper as a first author. However this author can be a non-presenting co-author of other submitted papers.
