12TH WORKSHOP ON ACCOUNTING AND ECONOMICS

TILBURG, THE NETHERLANDS, JUNE 23-24, 2016
BACKGROUND

The purpose of this workshop is to promote the application of economic analysis in accounting research. Following the great success of ten previous workshops, this workshop again offers a forum to thoroughly discuss current research using this methodology.

Economic analysis is an important research tool to structure the research process and derive powerful insights into accounting procedures and institutions. It has been successfully used to analyse a wide variety of issues that are related to information asymmetry and potential conflicts of interests between (groups of) involved people. The models provide convenient structures to analyse financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, and corporate governance themes.

Participants are invited to present their own work in the field, to provide a formal discussion of papers presented by other participants, or to attend presentations and participate in the discussions. The benefit of participation is to present and get feedback on your own research, to be exposed to other’s work that is on the forefront of economics based accounting research, and to discuss issues related to economic analysis.
