Solveiga Buoziute, Head of the Doctoral Department, ISM University of Management and Economics
During the seminar the participants will: 1) discuss the scientist role in nowadays society; 2) discover the tool for research ideas analysis allowing to improve own research ideas; 3) improve dissertation writing skills by formulating research title, aim, objectives, research question; 4) analyse the literature review writing process (searching for literature, quality of journals, how to read papers, structure of papers); 5) discuss research methodology questions(research methods and measurement); 6) learn the publication of research process.

Dr. RICARDO MORAIS Ricardo Morais holds a Ph.D. in strategic management from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, having graduated in management from the University of Porto, Portugal. His interests are focused on strategic management of research, networks, and internationalization. From 2002 to 2008, he has lectured these topics to over 800 postgraduate students in 10 higher education institutions in Portugal and Finland. With tens of communications in international conferences and seminars, he is the author of scientific articles and chapters edited by Elsevier (USA), Emerald (UK), Edward Elgar (UK) and Sage Publications (USA). Especially related with the topic of this Workshop are his publications on ‘scientific method’ (Sage Publications), ‘critical realism’ (Edward Elgar), and ‘doctoral paradox’ (Emerald).
Dr. K.R.E. (EELKO) HUIZINGH Eelko Huizingh has been active in academic publishing for over 20 years. He is a prolific writer with over 250 publications, including academic papers in top journals, professional articles, columns, and books. His academic papers cover a wide range of methodologies, with conceptual papers, case studies as well as empirical (statistical) papers. He has been the reviewer of numerous papers for several journals and conferences. He has participated in the Doctoral Colloquium of various conferences, including EMAC, ANZMAC and EBRF. Dr. Huizingh is affiliated with the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, where he is Associate Professor of Innovation Management. He was a Visiting Professor at Penn State University, USA (2000) and the University of Otago, New Zealand (2005, 2003). His research crosses the borders of various areas and focuses on the intersection of innovation, marketing and information technology. Dr. Huizingh is Vice President Scientific Affairs of ISPIM (the International Society for Professional Innovation Management).
Upon successful completion of the seminar (full attendance), the participants will be given a certificate and granted 4 ECTS.
TIME AND LOCATION The seminar will be held at ISM University of Management and Economics, Vilnius, LITHUANIA. The program will start on June 29, 2009 and is scheduled to end July 3, 2009
PARTICIPATION FEE The fee structure is as follows: - Doctoral student from non-member institution: 1.500 € - Special fee for students from Central and Eastern European institutions: 800 € This fee includes participation to the seminar, the documents, lodging and full board.
Doctoral students will be assigned rooms for two. Should you wish a single room, an extra fee of 50 € per night will be charged to you.
Cancellations made before June 12, 2009 will be reimbursed with 10% deduction of the total fee. No reimbursement will be possible after this date.
EIASM SCHOLARSHIPS The Institute offers a limited number of scholarships of 700 € each. Scholarships are strictly limited to students coming from an EIASM Institutional Member (the Academic Council). Allocation of the scholarships is entirely at the discretion of the European Institute.
APPLICATIONS Interested doctoral students should register online (and add the required documents) no later than May 11, 2009 (Places still available - Contact Nina Payen). Besides doctoral students, other researchers may participate. The number of participants will be limited to create a stimulating environment. The selection among the applicants will be conducted by the Institute’s Faculty. They will review the following documents which should necessarily complement each application form:
- the applicant’s curriculum vitae demonstrating his/her capabilities of doing research ;
- a letter of recommendation of his/her local faculty supporting the application ;
- a two-page description of his/her doctoral research, according to the provided template. Click HERE
