The programme in Operations & Production Management will include seminars on the following topics :
The time at disposal to face the climate emergency with its related ecological and social challenges is shrinking at rapid pace. Ecological economists are questioning the viability of the so-called “green growth” paradigm (i.e. pursuing economic growth while decarbonizing our economies), which has been the mainstream predicament since long.
The doctoral seminar is crafted to cater to PhD students specializing in a variety of fields, including - among others - supply chain management, operations management, performance management, ethics, and strategy with a pivotal focus on sustainability. The intensive five-day course aims to immerse participants in essential aspects of sustainable supply chain management, fostering a deep understanding of strategies and practices for a variety of stakeholders, such as businesses, social enterprises and public administration. The inaugural day is dedicated to set the stage for the discussion, introducing the basic concepts and challenges arising when multiple stakeholders engage into supply chain management with the objective to preserve and augment people well-being and planetary resources. By the end of the course, PhD candidates will have acquired knowledge about the state-or-the-art literature on sustainability in supply chains, along with key theories and methods. They will also have the chance to network with prominent scholars in the field who have dedicated their career to these topics. In this way, the ultimate objective is to leave participants equipped with a thoughtful amalgamation of theoretical insights and practical wisdom that can help them conduct robust and impactful research.
Application deadline: closed
As the seminar is providing an overview of the state-of-the-art of sustainability research in the supply chain context, it is suitable for doctoral students, but it can also be of interest for early career scholars who are interested in learning the fundamentals of this increasingly relevant area.
