PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES

The 3rdApplied Economics and Management (AEM) and Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) PhD Programs - Joint Paper Development Workshop is organized by the University of Bergamo in occasion of the 10th anniversary of foundation of CYFE (Center for Young and Family Enterprise) (www.unibg.it/cyfe) and will have a virtual format.

The workshop represents an opportunity for PhD students, post-docs, and early-career scholars to present their research and discuss it in an international and collaborative environment. In addition to facilitating fruitful discussion, this program supports the development of a global network of young researchers interested in entrepreneurship, innovation, international entrepreneurship and family business.

Together with feedbacks on their working papers, participants will have the opportunity to attend keynote speeches by internationally renowned scholars and to reflect on their research. The workshop activities are aimed at offering participants valuable suggestions and practical-oriented advice on crafting high quality research papers, targeting highly ranked journals, identifying intriguing research questions, as well as presenting research to academic audience.

TARGET GROUP AND ELIGIBILITY

The target group of the workshop are PhD students, post-docs, and early-career scholars who aim at contributing to the research fields of entrepreneurship, innovation, family business and international entrepreneurship. The workshop is also a valuable opportunity for doctoral students at any stage of their PhD journey to learn and improve their research capabilities.

 

APPLICATION & SELECTION PROCESS

Application process

Applicants aiming to discuss their working paper during parallel sessions are requested to submit a full paper (paper should not exceed 30 pages including figures and bibliography – please use Times Roman 12 font and double-line spacing) by 30th April 2020.

Participants will have 15 minutes to present their working papers in the parallel sessions. Additional 15 minutes will be devoted to questions from the audience and to the feedback expressed by the discussant assigned to the paper.

Selection criteria

Papers will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance of the research question
  • Theoretical and methodological rigor
  • Clarity of the essay
  • Potential contribution

 

Selected high quality papers will also be invited for submission to the RENT 2020 conference which will be held in Naples on November 18th – 20th, 2020 (https://ecsb.org/rent/).

Workshop format

Authors will present their working paper during the online parallel sessions.
Details about the platforms and organizations of the sessions will be further provided.
Best paper awards will be provided for top research

Parallel sessions will take place both on 25th and 26th May.

Keynote speeches will take place both on 25th and 26th May.
